OUR PARTNERS
2024-25
PRISM Chorus would like to formally announce our community partner for the next two seasons, PFLAG Detroit.
Since 1987, PFLAG Detroit offers various programs to support LGBTQ+ people and their families. They have been keeping families together for over 35 years and have striven to combat hate, discrimination and violence. Their goal is to have equal rights for all children. Their group sessions give people a chance to hear and understand the true feelings of parents, LGBTQ+ people and their allies. Through education and sharing, they are helping people understand issues that have caused discord and misunderstanding, sometimes tearing families apart.
Parents new to PFLAG find a positive reassurance about their children’s lives. They have been able to talk to their children like never before.
In a confidential setting, New Parents meet with a Moms and Dads of a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Queer child to share their feelings on how they handled the coming out of their child.
2023-24
PRISM Chorus would like to formally announce our community partner for the next two seasons, Ruth Ellis Center. Named in honor of a resilient Detroit icon, Ruth Ellis Center works to create a supportive environment and community with LGBTQ+ young people. It’s been beautiful to watch them grow over the years and become a true staple of support in our community and the country as a whole.
They wish to create a world where LGBTQ+ young people are safe and supported no matter where they go.
In being a community partner, you'll find more information about them on all of our social channels throughout the season. Together, we are stronger and can help change more lives for the better.
2022-23
Our community partner for the Spring 2023 season was Stand with Trans. This organization empowers and supports transgender youth and their loved ones across the world; helping them build resilience, gain confidence and discover a more joyful future. They are also committed to dismantling the barriers faced by our community based on racism, sexism, queer-antagonism, and other discriminatory factors.
Spring & Holiday 2022
Our community partner for the 2022 seasons was The BE KIND. Project. This organization's mission is to promote kindness in our shared communities locally, regionally, nationally and globally. We support humanitarian, education, arts & culture, and community enhancement projects for the betterment of all.
